Steak and Kidney Pudding Evening - 30-03-2010

Steak and Kidney Pudding Evening news article. Once again the Spitfires Explorer unit held a very successfull 4 course meal at the Scout Hut last Saturday the 27th March. The hall was decorated, each course was prepared and cooked by 6 of the young people, with a 10-30am start and not finishing till gone 11-30pm most were exhausted by the end of the day. The meal consisted of Egg Mayonnaise, followed by a rather scrumptious Bacon and Vegetable Soup followed by Steak and Kidney Pudding and seasonal Vegetables, with a mouth watering Peach Melba as dessert followed by Tea and Coffee with mini Jam Tarts. Everything on the menu was cooked from scratch by the young people and they also laid the tables and decorated  them their selves. However I must not forget to add that they were supervised during the whole event by our very good friend Margaret Palmer who without her support the evening would not have been the success it so rightly was. With 31 people attending from within the community including many of our local councillors and their parteners, our own District Commissioner and our President together with many of the group's own leaders. Reports back so far have included, Fantastic food, the politeness and efficiency of the young people was impressive, extremely good value for the money, an extremely enjoyable evening and please let us know when your next meal is as we would like to attend again. With plaudits like these the 6 exploeres should be very proud of themselves so thank-you and many congratulations to you all. My only wish for a future meal is that we would be supported better by the parents of our Beaver Colony and Cub group who have the benefit of these young people who keep your groups running by being your Young Leaders and in the case of the Beaver Colony probably would not be able to continue running without their support due to lack of adult leaders. The total profit for the evening was £157-26.
