Beaver Sleepover at Bexon Lane - 16-06-2009Beaver Sleepover at Bexon Lane, held on the weekend 30/31st May, 6 of the spitfire unit kindly gave up their weekend to assist at this 24hr sleepover for our Beaver section. The weather was very kind to us with the Beavers arriving at 1pm, after the opening ceremony they were given lunch and them shown around the 13 acre site. Between 3 and 5pm they were able to get there first taste of rifle shooting and archery, lessons were given by qualified instructors and ably helped by the explorers themselves, all enjoyed the experience and it was noted that amongst the Beavers there was much potential for some excellant sharp shooters. After refreshments the explorers showed the Beavers a range of giant games keeping them busy whilst the leaders and helpers prepared their evening meal, which consisted of a large and varied barbacue. The evening continued with entertainment round the campfire put on by the exploeres, after which some tired Beavers went to bed. Sunday morning was up at 7pm, followed by breakfast, after which the Beavers were split into groups to learn about some of the experiences that the explorers have in camp craft and map reading, this included a talk and shoe of were and how to light fires saftely. A few further games were played and then it was time to pack up ready for the arrival of parents and the presentation of prizes and closing ceremony. A good time was had by all Beavers and Explorers alike, many thanks to those of you that assisted with this sleepover. Photos of the weekend have been posted on the Beavers website and also on the spitfires website. more news articles... | Upcoming eventsLatest newsSurvival Camp at Quex |
